Tony is a big Coke fan. And he diligently collects reward points. If, by chance, you are also a Coke drinker who doesn’t utilize their points, you should consider sending them our way. Be in touch. Please and thank you.
Anyway, Tony recently earned enough points for a Snapfish Photo Book. He told me a few days beforehand that he was going to be redeeming points for one and I could began making it. I did not anticipate it being so FUN! It was like scrapbooking but without the mess or the commitment. The most time consuming past was uploading masses of pics to snapfish.com and that was mostly because my photos are organized in too many different folders.
Now, the book is done and to be ordered in the next day or so. I wish I could just post it up here but can’t find a way to, so I am providing a link that I hope will work. Originally I was just going to do a scrapbook type thing of Ali from six months on but then it kind of morphed into a book we can use to go through with her and point out who people are so she can learn everyone. We don’t have a lot of pictures up in our house and getting something visual with extended family has been a goal (though we do have a door with all our Christmas cards taped onto it which has thus far sufficed - Reshma and Georgia are Ali’s favorite to point at). So this book kind of turned into that, but with some space and design restraints. I hope no one feels left out or I didn’t mess up anywhere…I did the best I could!
Ali received her first pair of Robeez in utero. At my baby shower (thanks Aunt Pam!). And she never took them off. Metaphorically speaking of course. She’s had a few other pairs of shoes but they never stayed on. So frustrating! And like throwing money down the toilet. Meanwhile she kept wearing her 0-6 month Robeez. Which she especially enjoyed chewing upon and carrying around the house in her mouth, puppy dog style.
Finally we broke down and purchased her a new pair. Even if we couldn’t really afford it (they’re pretty pricey!). The kicker was that her toes were running out of room to the point where we worried they were going to be perma curled. Like some form of Chinese foot binding. Also, without shoes on, her socks won’t stay on and even though it’s spring she just can’t be running around barefoot. Especially with it still snowing and all. Which, btw, it did Monday.
Yesterday the above shoes came in the mail. Fresh and new, with room to grow and style to spare. Considering the last pair lasted nine months of near daily wear, even stretching with Ali while she grew , I’m sure we’ll get more than our money’s worth out of these too. So, Robeez…highly recommended!
While in Seattle, we were lucky enough to take Ali to a Birds class at The Little Gym. Though, to be fair, she wasn’t supposed to be there. Under ten months was supposed to go to a Bugs class but I fudged on her bday because there weren’t any of her age groups’ while we were still in town and also because she loves older kids so much and is advanced I knew this class was better for her. I was right. She had such a good time. Probably even more fun than swimming. It was such a fun thing to watch, to be a part of. Awesome. Those are the kinds of things you miss out in the boonies. Pros and cons I guess. Pros and cons…
This one is a little long. I seem to struggle when where/when to end videos. Never wanting to miss something great. Ummmm, ignore the bickering of the parents at the beginning
New food is so much fun for babies. And their parents. Except when the time comes to clean them up! This picture involves some baby biscuit thing. Ali also got some sweet potato puff,s corn puffs and some stage three foods, which include meats and chunks. Yummy?
This morning Ali pooped in the toilet. She’s been peeing for months now, though we’ve slacked a lot of putting her on it. Then, as if to somehow prove it wasn’t a fluke, she did it again in the afternoon. both times almost immediately after having been put on. This whole thing is really more Tony’s deal than my own, but he is too busy to post. He is SO PROUD of his tiny pooper.
Yesterday I finally was able to pick up the crackers Kari recommended. Baby Mum-mums and Ali absolutely loves them, just as we knew she would. The way this kid has been interested in food, especially crunchy things like popcorn and even carrots, there was no question she had been just waiting to sink all four of her teeth into something. I tried a bit and they are really good too. Definitely a step up from rice cereal. Though the girl has been trying a lot of stuff lately. Tiny peices of pickle, grape, apple, pancake, pineapple. Mostly she just likes to pick them up and drop them down her front.
Today was another beautiful day at the coast so we decided to let Ali get out and get real dirty. She getting so mobile, which is such a trip but also so scary and stressful. It seems like every time I leave her for a second there’s a bump and a scream…today there has been more than I can count. Once she awoke from a nap on the trundle in her room and crawled right off the bed. *sigh* I’m not sure how to avoid that since she won’t sleep in her crib and now SCREAMS everytime she’s even close to being put in it (she used to like to play in there) since we spent a couple nights trying to get her to fall asleep in there. Last night though I did get her to fall asleep kind of "on her own." I laid in the bed in her room with her but didn’t interact with her or anything, no nursing or singing and I would close my eyes whenever she looked at me, until eventually she fell asleep. It took over an hour but other than that the hardest part was not laughing when she was being so cute and razzing on my arm or "singing" or whatever she was doing. Of course she woke up less than an hour later and I just took her down to our bed, but it was something. Anyway, she’s smacked her head so many times today I’m watching her pupils because I’m worried about a concussion of something. At least she had a very good time scrambling around in the sand.
